A friend of mine is in auto at his school, and his teacher gave him a brand new Turbo for Disel. The thing is huge! Would that be good for our cars?

also you cant use diesel turbos on gas powered cars. there is no vacuum in the intake on a diesel car or truck and if you put a diesel turbo on your car the seal in the compressor housing would not hold up to the vacuum and your engine would suck all the oil in trough the intake.

? interesting!, I've never heard of this but that doesn't me it's not true! Could be so, but I have seen diesel turbos used on gas eng.'s before, so at least some diesel turbos don't follow this rule. But as said before, this turbo is prob. way too big to spool with a 2.2/2.5L eng. Your friends best bet would be to sell that (free) turbo for some pretty big bucks! Then spend the money on just the right turbo for his needs.

Well put. I know that many guys over at turbomustangs.com will get a turbo off of a powerstroke, or cummins to facilitate their JY turbo setups.

I believe that only holds true for a pull through set up, like what is used on a carb motor. Diesels suck air straight into the compressor just like our motors do, well the blow through setups anyways. With a draw through set-up you are creating vacuum because you have the restriction of the carb/throttle body BEFORE the turbo, and like you said there are not seals on the compressor side so you would draw oil through the bearings into the intake until you either detonate from oil in the fuel or just plain run the motor out of oil. But on a blow through setup it would work it it wasn't so **** big:big grin:
