I'm going with a VNT to T3/T4 hybrid swap and will be running a FWD-P 18psi calibration on 91 pump gas. I was wondering if this is safe or if i'd need 93+ octane, which isnt at the pump in california so i'd have to find it somewhere else...

Also is it safe to use stock pistons when running 18psi boost and making around 250-280hp & 300-350lb ft.?

And any other tips and things i need to be on the lookout for when upping the boost would be really appreciated.

Thanks... I worship you TD help ***s.

A big intercooler.

If you're really detonating, you'll hear it, but if it's that bad, you're probably too late. Checking the plugs for salt and pepper is one way, I've had plugs that looked clean even though there was some minor detonation. The best way is to hook up a scanner and see what the knock sensor is picking up.

I run between 26 to 30 psi on stock pistons with pump gas (Sunoco 94).

Keep it rich. Don't ever lean out at high boost.

Get as big an intercooler as you can fit.

Suck air through the intercooler when you aren't moving forward.

Add alcohol and water injection that comes on at high boost.

Awesome What's max halfway reliable tolerable PSI for stock Internals, factorying in that you have a good IC, plenty of fuel, etc let's say? How much is it for a dual stage IC like that, and the alcohol and water injection?
