Slow spool, what can cause it?

well, what are my options?

My wastegate arm keeps coming off, and ever since the first time it did it hasn't spooled normal since.

The car won't make boost in first gear, and will only get to 13 by redline, not like 15 instantly as before.

I drove the car with exhaust just going through the wastegate for about an hour before I realized it, so could there be a carbon buildup?

I reclamped all my intercooler piping, no leaks that I know of.

The BOV is not the problem, I've checked it out two different ways.

Cam and distributor timing is dead on.

Yeah you might have carbon buildup around the wastegate hole, if the wastegate was open the turbo would never build any boost making the engine run a little on the rich side. It wouldn't take much for the wastegate flapper to not make a good seal, I would definitally try cleaning it and see if it makes a difference.

But how exactly am I going to go about cleaning out the wastegate hole when everything is behind the head!?

I'm not going to pull the head for this, it isn't worth it.

Could I drop the downpipe and see if I could get far enough up in there to clean around?

I do have a TU 3" swingvalve, so I don't think clearance inside will be much of a problem!

Yes, I did. The fittement is so tight, that I have to struggle using all of my arm strength possible to get the arm over the wastegate pin!

Something is wrong, and I can't figure it out.
