Got the head off the 85 Laser XE today... this car had sat in a grove for 6 years before I resurrected it...

There is no shaft play in the turbo and it spins freely, but the intake side is covered with oil... the EGR has so much sludge in it that it was totally blocked...

The head gastket looked great, however the oil, after being changed and driven for 20 minutes, has a milk shake appearance...

Can bad seals in the turbo mix coolant and oil? Is the turbo bad if oil is in the intake?

While the head is at the shop can I also just have an EGR block off plate made? Is it as simple as plugging the vacuum lines and closing the two EGR holes?

Thanks for your help!

i dont think the seals allow coolant and oil to mix.
if the oil is in the intake, the turbo should still be fine, its the cylinders and that area that's going bad.
