I Have an 87 2.2 turbo. The engine has blown a head gasket and there is oily sludge thoughout the entire engine, even the turbo. The oil stuff looks like mud. Do you think it can be cleaned up and still work okay?

does the turbo spin yet? or is it stuck in the sludge, and how long has it been like this... the quicker you clean that turbo out, the sooner you can find out if it's usable or not...

my advice, clean it and see how much play(if any) is in the shaft in the turbo. after that, let us know the results, and more of us would probably be able to help

I got the car from my dads friend and he got it from his friend. At that it had already had the gasket blown. It then sat for a year or so. But i got the car for free and thought i might be able to do something with it.

if the turbo is water cooled and oil enterd the coolant and you got very lucky it wouldent have touched the internal rotating parts , but if water enterd the oil then bad bad bad bad bad.. clean and prey.!
