Anybody know if you can remove a t1 mitsu turbo from a 89 carvan without removing the head?

It's possible with the right tools, but probably a lot easier and faster to simply pull the head.

Gives you an excuse to change the headgasket and timing belt too.

yes very simple 20min job dont even have to unbolt the exhaust. just unbolt the clamp between the exhaust and intake housings on the turbo. then tap the turbocharger out of the exhaust housing and replace it with a new one. dont forget to disconnect the oil and coolent lines

Heh, didn't even think about that. I should have, 'cause I actually did it once! That was on a log intake, though.

thats what i like about these turbochargers very easy to service. the CT26 turbo i'm using is set up the same way except its much bigger:big grin:

Put the mini on a lift, there's enough room to get back in there and change it.
