My solenoid must be pissing away my boost (max 2psi) because when I plugged the actuator I was able to generate 4 (and then let off) at 2700 prm.

I understand MBC preferance to solenoid, but why not just use your foot (throttle) to control your boost by watching the gauge?

because once you get above 3000 rpm you would not be able to give the car any more than 1/4 to 1/2 throttle with out over bosting the car. it would run like hell that way but it would soon tare something up if you did not keep your foot out of it.

If that's the only coinsideration, later on the maual boost control (grainger, etc)...

for now, i'm trying to observe the behaiovr of my BOV and timing on the fly, so i'm going to eliminate the variable of what my solenoid is doing to my wastegate and just run with a foot geared toward what my boost gauge is telling me, up to 12 lbs

i'm clear on what my foot is doing, but not on what my solenoid is doing

I had my wg actuator unplugged for awhile, its almost impossible to drive. If your just driving around town and not getting into the throttle, its easy. BUT, if someone rolls up on you and wants to race or you feel like driving fast, its VERY finicky and hard to keep the boost up while not hitting fuel cutout. You cant take your eyes off the boost gauge at all, as soon as you do itll hit cutout. Hope this helps, maybe u can do it but I couldnt lol.

Also you can overspin the turbo. Use an mbc and save yourself from destroying your car. Leaving unplugged is pure negligence and you are asking for something to go wrong

check, all input above makes sence and checks out

Interesting. I did it to confirm that my solenoid was limiting me to 2lbs boost. I thought my cam or dist timing were off...Anyway, too many variables. I"m going to try some breif things with the BOV (light RPM and low miles).

Mad Psi is right about poor control...gauge jumps around with.
I've been 30 miles in-town on this "setting."

Before I put on the grainer valve, this test verified what i've been learning and had little risk given my light foot and careful observation. I am even much more clear on the entire workings of my 2.5
