dose it have 2 cams or just 1 the t1 and t2 were 8v engines thus 1 camshaft. the t3s were 16v and had a twin cam head. If it has a 16v lotus head that would be cool but if it is a t3 it may have a 2.4 neon head on it.

it could have a t3 turbo but not likly being a 8v . you will need to get the #s of the turbo for a good id. your the guy with the smoking turbo right if you need to replace it I would just pop the head off and pull the turbo if it has the exhaust manny redilled or has a standered t3 flang then it may be a t3 turbo.imo if you need to replace it i would go with a s60 not super cheap but they make power like crazzy.

the heads are the same. with the turbo off look at the flang where the turbo bolts on the exhaust if the holes are all evenly spaced and driecly acrost from each other then it is a t3 but more than likely one of them will be offset i.e. it will not be a square pattern then it is a t1 or t2 . the 2.5 were all t1s unless some one spent a bit of money on this thing It is most likely still the stock turbo. the stocker on that car may be a mistu turbo. If it has been upgraded to a garrett t2 turbo that may be you confusion.

Actually, the Garrett turbo that is used stock on the TD's is a T3 Garrett Turbo with a Chrysler flange. It is the same main cartridge as the Grand National and the Ford Turbo Coupe's. The difference between them is the A/R sizes of the turbine and compressor housings/wheels. If you have a stock looking turbo on the car, and it is a garrett, then it would be a T3 TURBO (not engine). And it probably came off of a normal T2 engine.

The best way to check a turbo is to remove the intake line going to the filter and see how much play the compressor wheel has in it. If you can really move the wheel, then it needs to be replaced. If you can move it maybe a millimeter left and right, and can't move it in and out, then I would say it is good to run. If the turbo needs replaced, you can get a rebuild for it, which all you would need is a T3 rebuild kit, and you can get them just about anywhere.

Well, if it's a 91 then it didn't come with a T2 engine because that only came in the 89s and came with a 2.2L. Now, the T3 was never installed in a LeBaron but it was installed in the Mexican Phantom R/T version and would have also had a 2.2L.

Your car came stock with a 2.5L T1 with a Mitsubishi TE04H turbo.

That is a Garrett T3 turbo, came on the T2 cars and the early log T1's had it too. It can cause some confusion lol.

To be more exact, that's a 87 TII turbo. Comes with 2 1/4 inch small flange swing valve and small actuator.
