any one know how to check or test a turbo to see if it is any good before putting it on a car... i got a bunch around but not sure if they are any good.....any help here?

the compressor side of the shaft... wiggle it see if it has any play at all... if it rubs against the housing then thats no good at all... it will eventually come apart... i think if it has in and out play in the shaft(i know ur thinking sick :P LOL) then i believe the bearings are bad.. hope it helps.

check the blades too. if they're bent a little, it was hitting the housing. mine is like that, buy i cant afford the time/$$ for a rebuild, so its going back in for right now

my uncle knows a guy that will rebuild a turbo for 75 bux.....
so .. i will eventually hit him up whne i find a decent car again....

the way I do it..probably wrong.. but in the compressor side I push the shaft to one side (with moderate pressure) and with the other finger turn the turbine.. if it rubs on the compressor housing its time for new core.

works for me.
