what kind of bov's? stock t1 bovs? u dont have to put them in the air box. just stick a little air breather clamped on it and you will be fine. i dont even run a filter on my bov (not alot of dust/sand flying around)

you can use a little valve cover breather on the BOV rather than plumbing it to the airbox

when he says running without a filter, he means theres no filter for his BOV since not much dust blows around

im not sure what type of bov the 323 turbo mazda has? bosch? is it larger than the stock t1 bov?

the reason the factory put the bov in the air box in the t1 is because they didnt want to have a seprate filter on the bov because when the engine is in vacum (when your not hammering on it) it will suck air in thru the bov.

if i had a stock t1 bov and i was trying to install it on a t2 id grab the hose from the turbo to the throttle body on the t1 motors which has the flange for the bov. id cut the hose short and put it on the upper i/c hose and clamp it on using metal pipes on each side to keep from crushing the pipe with clamps. then just get the correct diameter hose for the base of the bov and mount it to the stock flange using clamps. then hook the vac. line up to the tb. or other vaccum source. (im not sure if the t2 throttle body has a nipple for it and its just pluged or what)

1. Remove the intercooler to airbox hose
2. Fabricate a flange, weld it onto a piece of 2 1/4" exhaust pipe
3. Attach BOV to flange
4. Get a couple pieces 2 1/4" ID radiator hose
5. Get a Couple hose clamps, attach pipe and hoses between intercooler and airbox.
6. All done.

both of them are occupied, i will need a T-thing right?

my t2 has no stock bov, just a hose from the turbo(?) to the airbox.

Use the drivers side nipple on the tb.

No T2's had stock BOVs.

I'm not sure what hose you're referring to.

On a TII, the only hose between airbox and turbo is the inlet hose, and there's no reason to touch that when installing a BOV.

well there's the big hose that goes from the airbox to the turbo, that gives the turbo air (inlet hose i hope )
and there is another hose, a smaller one, coming into the airbox.
on a t1 engine i'd say, that this is the hose from stock BOV that's in the airbox.

you know what i mean? i'll take pics today and post them later.

Are you sure you have a TII?

The only other hose going into a TII airbox would be one for cruise control. This should come in from the front (side towards front of car). Other than that, there's air inlet, air outlet, intercooler inlet and throttlebody outlet.

How about the breather hose from the PCV?

Most people get rid of the air box for an open K&N air filter & join the 2 intercooler hoses with a hard pipe that has a flange for a BOV, then cap the vacuum line from the cruise control & install a small breather filter on the end of the hose from the PCV.

Sorry, I just read the first post I have seen people remove the section of the air box where the upper IC pipe goes through & install a hard pipe with a BOV.
