Turbo's a T3 60 trim with .63 turbine housing, 3 inch SV, and 3 inch downpipe. Exhaust ends there. Medium size NPR cooler (2.75" in/out). Engine's an 89 2.5 completely stock. We had troubles at the track and we discovered today the boost wasn't holding where we thought. Boost only krept to 15 or so in 1st and 2nd. Then spiked to 20 and settled at 18 in the rest of the gears. We unhooked the wastegate (after many trials) and it holds a solid 20-21psi through the gears. This turbo should push WAY more than that. What can I do to increase it even more? Washers on the wastegate bolts? Stiffen my wastegate arm (its adjustable, but not very easily at all)? Anything that will work well and still allow me to fine tune it is what I'm looking for. Nothing crazy like wire tieing the swingvalve shut. EGT's are a tad under 1400 and I'm running 100% race gas (110) so I'm ready to keep on cranking it up till it leans out a bit more.

Thanks in advance.

No I bought it from a person in the TD community. Right now its adjusted out to *just* reach the swingvalve arm piece, so I could still tighten it a lot with it attatched to the swingvalve to stiffen up the spring in the can. It's just a pain to reach back behind the intake with everything being 800 degrees not able to see what your touching before you do. I didn't buy it for the adjustability. I traded a small stock can for it because it was the big style that could hold higher boost. It just happened to have been modified to be adjustable.

It's setup like this:

[can]----[nut][center][nut]----[eyelet]

Can is a big style can
Center has inside threads and threads to the two rod pieces.

I could only get like 10 psi. out of mine, then I put two of the headbolt washers between the wastegate can bracket and the turbo...now it gets plenty of boost. I dont know about more than 20 psi...but definitely about 18-20.

Good luck.

I did the washers on the bolts trick with the old mitsu and it went from 15 to about 18. I'm going to try it today. Just one washer to start with.

Yes, yes I am. Truthfully I expected way more when we unplugged the wastegate. We'd maxed out the g-valve at 15-18 dependant on the gear. But I was ready to hear my buddy (my gauge watcher) start screaming the "let off" voice signal which is "WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA." Didn't happen. Piddly 20psi. We'll see about that.

Qane...

You should be able to get alot more boost then the 20 your getting now. I can hold 28psi with mine....and I only have a .48 housing. Otherwise I have teh same turbo as you.
