My car is spitting out oil and blue smoke out the exaust. Low boost pressure through out the rpm range.

I'm looking on replacing it and I may want to upgrade to a larger turbo. Any suggestions?

Also what would I need to do if I up the boost 16-18psi?

If you want to go larger than stock (its very worthwhile), youre definitely going to want a 0.63 exhaust side. Depending on your power goals, spool up requirements, etc youll probably want either a Stage 2 or Stage 3 wheel. On my car I went Stage 3. The Stage 2 might spool a bit quicker with a bit less flow up top. How much of a difference there is between these wheels in spoolup/peak power I really dont know. But, I think youll be fine with either of them to probably over 400 hp.

Keep in mind that going to the 0.63 exhaust side will require you to get "funky" with the swingvalve, etc. The standard TIII exhaust housing is a real piece (of what Ill let you figure out). In short, youll need some custom work done on the swingvalve and downpipe. Not horrendously difficult and I know of at least two vendors that can do it for you. Gary is on this site and can handle it Im sure. (Im sure you know http://www.relentlessracing.com).

As for the compressor side, youve got lots of choices. Dont go with anything in the Garrett T3 family. If youre going to the effort to change out the turbo for something better, youre going to want something (at least) in the TO4E family of wheels. I favor the Super 50 trim TO4E (as do many others) for its very broad compressor map and excellent top end flow. Itll flow more than enough air for any of us. (At least any of us that I know of....the Super 50 trim can flow about 475 hp. )

You could go with the Super 46 trim TO4E if you wanted (theoretically) a little faster spool up. The 46 will still flow enough air for over 400 hp.

Assuming you want to get the most out of the turbo described above add:

Large front mount intercooler
+40 injectors
Good 3" exhaust (freeflowing as possible)Some method of boost control (grainger, etc)
Various misc things (blow off valve, etc)
A good cal to run it all

Pretty simple recipe really, you just need the right parts. The biggest thing Ive found is the cal. You can push the stock cal pretty far, but it appears that a tweaked cal adds quite a bit of power.

Can I use my 2.5 inch hi flow exhaust (no muffler )with 16-18 psi. I know the flow rate isn't as good but I just had to put on.
