So im new to owning a turbo. I have an 87 lebaron 2.2 turbo I. Unfortunetly the engines is toast. The oil looks more like mud but i might be able to rebuild. My question is, How do you tweak out a turbo to get more PSI? I know it has to do with the wastegate and if you get higher than ???? you have to get an intercooler. Can i tweak the stock 7 PSI turbo out? if so to what PSI?

well i have a stock turbo on my 88 (mitsu turbo, and no intercooler) and im running just below boost cut out so im running about 14. somthing psi. runs just fine..

u can get a intercooler anytime... but i wouldnt suggest going over 15psi without an intercooler.

all you need is a grainger valve to raise boost but you can only raise it to about 15psi then it will cut out, when you want more u need a custom calibration or zener diode to go beyond cut out then you will need more fuel, etc. u should have a boost gauge and a/f ratio gauge when rasing your boost any. www.thedodgegarage.com explains it very well.

Ya I found one at the wrecker the other day and got a 555 from it for 80 bucks canadian. Some one had already taken the turbo and intercooler and stuff but at least I got the tranny.
