Hello! Fisrt off, sincei am new here, i guess i will tell you about my car and why i am crazy. hehe. i have a 94 dodge shadow with the 3.0V6. I've already morphed the exterior, now i need it to go faster. I've thought about doing a stealth motor swap, but there's no way i could find a twin turbo stealth that was hit really hard in the rear easily. (this way id have all thw eiring and stuff) so ive decided to try to turbo what i have. in doing so ive found that no one makes anyhting for these cars and eveything has to be custom made. well, im used to that since my entire body kit was made to fit that car. however, i can't do exhaust manifolds and things of that nature. ive been told if i can find a way to make the exhaust work, then the rest would be easy. of couse after finding a way to bypass the computer of course. so here's where i stand. i am hoping that there is someone out here that can help me on my quest for boost. thanks in advance for any help!! also, if you want to see what ive done to my exterior go here: www.cardomain.com/id/tropikalchik ill have new pics soon i hope...

Well, I suggest first that you join and check the archives at the following Yaho groups:
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/chrysler3literV6/
http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/fwdmoparmuscle/

You can also see some pictures of the factory prototype turbo motor for some ideas:
http://robskorner.freehomepage.com/3lprototype/

The main issue with turbocharging the 3.0 is getting it physically hooked up. One of the members of this board TDorNotTD used the stock setup, but capped off the exhaust where it exits beind the motor and mounted a flange on the exhaust crossover and has his turbo mounted there. The the factory prototype as yopu can see in the pictures essentially has a front manifold mounted on the back, however its not quite that simple because the exhaust manifold bolts don't line up to simply swap the manifolds around, the rear manifold is a prototype piece. I plan on using a passenger side manifold off of a Mitsubishi Montero, a new crossover will be needed but it will work better than cappingoff the stock manifold. From there you have to run oil lines to the turbo, which can be tapped from the oil pressure sensor and a hole will have to be drilled in the oil pan for a return. You can run coolant lines also, but it isn't completely necessary as the turbo is really cooled by the oil. As far as the computer goes, don't worry about it, Robert H. has been running the factory prototype on the stock computer without problems and Harv. H. has been runnign an SC with factory computer. You will however have to install some larger injectors, an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a rising rate of gain fuel pressure regulator. This project requires a lot of fabrication and will require a lot of tuning, so be prepared to really have your work cut out for you.

here is a thought after lookin at your cardomain site i know you had just got the engine rebuilt in the convertable but why not turbo it instead of the V6? that would be a lot easier since the parts are already avalable to do it. but that is a matter of personal opinion besides a Turbo V6 Shadow with a body kit would be sweet as well either way you decide to go make sure you plan out the mods well and it will all work out.

hey! thanks for all the info. it helps. im going to see what i can come up with. id love to get the turbo to work with the v6, i think it'd be really neat. as for the convertible that i have, im not sure what im going to do with it. i know the 4 cyls are easier to do mods to, but that car has alot of issues that needs to be sorted out before doing anyhting to it. so maybe onc ei figure it out.... Speaking of that problem, has anyone else ever had a problem with the 2.5 getting up to speed?? The convertible tkaes 23 sec to get to 50mph. yea, im not lying!! i timed it. To me it seems that the cable from the gas pedal is too loose so it's not getting enough throttle. i dunno, its a guess. im at a loss or maybe its something even easier lie the timing being off. well, im off to work, cyas later!

talk to fkatzenb about v6 stuff. he is selling his supercharger that he was going to use on the 6 cause he is going to do turbo. i suggest using twin mitsu turbos and some kind of big intercooler (NPR?.....) a twin mitsu 6 would really rock! also is yours a 5-speed? engine management.... talk to frank (fkatzenb) about that one as well. he is working on building/using a megasquirt system to control the fuel (and spark too once the code is written) if you use it to only do fuel use a msd or something to modify spark and the megasquirt to do fuel. its not that difficult and the megasquirt runs about 120-150$.... only downfall... you build it yourself... if you are so inclined... if not i think some people might make prebuilt ones. good luck on that beast!!
