my 89 daytona shelby needs a new turbo, and i am contemplating upgrading. Or just getting a rebuilt stock garrett.

I am planning for a 3 bar calibration, big fmic, and the biggest exhaust i can find. i will be running no more than 25 psi of boost. So.. what i need to know is; how effiecient will the stock t-2 be at these levels? and what turbo would be a good upgrade with these mods? What do you all recomend? Will the t-2 be OK or should i upgrade? THanks a ton in advance"thumbs up

the t2 will be able to do what you want but an upgraded turbo will make way more power at 25psi.

something in a t3/t4 hybrid..... .63 exhaust housing with a stage 2 wheel, and a 48-50trim t4 compressor wheel in a t04e housing. not cheap but makes the power you crave

but of course I always recommend everyone to call the turbo vendor they are planning on dealing with and explain the application you want to use it for and they will give you an expert opinion

thanks for the info. will there be a noticeable increase in lag when switching to the hybrid you described?

yes you will notice it over stock, but when it hits it'll hit hard.

for an example. my t3/t4 makes 15psi @3100rpm compared to the stock T2 turbo's 2800rpm. but it has the stock .48 ehaust housing and the stock exhaust wheel, and a .60ar compressor housing with a 48 trim wheel. while the stock exhaust side is limiting my max HP to a bit under 300, it cut's down on lag. the .63 housing and will cause a little bit more lag
