No boost

Okay, so I did the feel around the turbo thing to try to find out why my son's 84 T1 (600 vert) has no boost since we had the turbo and head gasket replaced. I found (in addition to a leaking oil line---hope I can just tighten it up) that the rubber piece between the turbo and the intake is deformed. It's sorted dented on one side and feels like it may not be under the clamp where it attaches to the turbo. If it's pissing away the boost, I'll need to put it on correctly. What are the chances that, if I remove the throttle body to get some working room, that I'll be able to put it on correctly without having to yank the head? Can I just loosen the intake manifold and wiggle it on? Advice please. The boy comes home next month and I'd sure like to make him smile. Thanks.

you should be able to put it on by removing the throttle body without messing with the manifold if we're thinking about the same piece.

Thanks Tony. The piece I'm referring to is a rubber sleeve that connects the turbo air outlet to the intake manifold inlet. Is that the one you're thinking about?

Turns out it was a rusted out end on the wastegate arm not hooked to the swingvalve. Boy do I feel stupid . So now the question is do I try to fab up something or do I have to replace the entire wastegate can and arm?
