Painting Intercoolers?

I've been looking at ICs to get on ebay, and a lot of them have been painted. Can this be good for it? I would assume that the closer the air in the intercooler is to the outside air the better. Wouldn't a layer of paint act as an insulator and make it cool less? Any clarification would help. Thanks.

I would avoid it, but if you are going to paint it, do a thin layer of balck similar to the radiator. It can actually help draw the heat out.

the stock I/C's were painted
and painting them with a Rad. paint would be the best idea
Us guys living in the rust belt would rather there be a littel paint on the I/C then corrision buildup which would suck even more
