Smoke coming from under my intake

My 85 SC converted to turbo 2 with stock turbo is smoking after I drive it. The smoke comes from under my intake. Not sure if the smoke is coming from the turbo or the exhaust manifold? Nothings leaking and I rebuilt my turbo. Could something be wrong inside my turbo? Or could something be leaking out onto my exhaust manifold?

Did you just finish working on it? Might be grease burning off from your hands when you did the work, could also be the valve cover gasket leaking bits of oil onto the exhaust and burning off. Could cause a fire if it gets bad

How many miles since rebuilt? Could be just grease burning off.

At least 200 miles since I did all the work

My rebuilt turbo had some coating on it from the place and it smoked really bad at first then died down a bit and went away after a month or so.

Is it something that I should worry about inside the turbo?

If it isn't smoking out the exhaust your turbo should be fine

Might be steam. Did you take the exhaust studs out of the head? The bottom row goes into the water jacket. The will leak when hot unless you used a thead lock/sealant.

I have an 86 Daytona turbo I and mine was smoking after I shut it down and had a faint gasoline smell. It took me a little time to find it but one of my injectors was leaking at the connector. $32 a piece for stock replacements at O'Reilly. I went ahead and swapped all 4... Fuel leaking on the heat shield and heat from the turbo, no bueno.

Check the oil feed line running into the turbo and possibly the coolant feed line as well. I had a leak there when I swapped a turbo (had to add some teflon tape to the oil fitting where it fed the turbo and it was all good). Pretty scary thought that I could have possibly burned the car down if the oil leak was bad enough. I would pull the airbox out to give you some room and grab a good light start the car and use your eyes to help you locate the source. Use your smell too (does it smell sweet - antifreeze or does it smell like burnt oil (oil). After 200 miles any residue should have burned up so you're probably leaking somewhere.

It smells more like burnt oil. I havent had time to work on it in a while which is kind of sad. Its kind of hard to see under the bigger intake. I should have just put the SS lines on it when I had it all apart

this is what i was thinking too. IF THE EXHAUST BOLTS CAME OUT YOU MUST USE THREAD SEALANT ON THEM WHEN YOU RE-INSTALL.

Don't forget that three(?) Of the intake bolts go right into oil jackets in the head. More likely his issues than above as he said it smells like oil.

So I might as well pull the head and add thread sealer to all of the intake and exhaust studs?
