I have a T2 Garrett that according to the prior owner, needs to be rebuilt. It has very little shaft play left/right and no shaft play up and down. When I put the intake side cover back on the fins hit the inside of the housing. I know that the parts that I have back together now are all the same turbo so why do the fins hit the inside of the housing? Will a rebuild cure that problem? I am sorry if this question has been asked before but my search did not come up with anything. Thanks for any help.

Yeah, if your fins are hitting the housing, that turbo is done...grin.

Time for a rebuild.
