I need to know what I have to look for when buying a wastegate actuator for my stock 86' 600. I don't need one thats going to increase boost because that would shut the engine down. My stock actuator arm broke at the end and now it is scrap unless I welded a washer or something to it to hook up to the wastegate. Also how do you adjust it so that it does not create to much boost or is that handled by the computer.

Thanks

I'd cut the remaining rod and thread the end of it to match an "eye" bolt from your local hardware store. Join them with a threaded coupler and lock nut. Can't help you with the tension but measuring another cans arm should get you close enough.

i'd recommend a new larger capacity wastegate actuator (or "can"), you can buy from FWD Peformance or Turbos Unleashed, along with a special bracket to accept the new can, for under $100, good thing is the unit comes with an adjustable arm already so you can fine tune it, and if you ever upgrade your setup's swing valve you'll have a can capable of handling that as well, heres a pix (can is the zinc chromated yellow looking thing on the left, I got this one from TU):

The new TU unit is nice. The adjuster is easy to get to when the motor is installed, as it is right next to the can.

I won't argue that the TU actuator is a nice piece, but for someone looking for a stock replacement on an 86 TI It's overkill in my opinion. Best bet is to find a good used actuator and swap them. I've got a bunch if Frank (Radiant Red) can't help you out for some reason.

He needs a T1 can, not a T2 can. They are vastly different. And if he is stock an 86' would have a suck-through style.

I have an 87' T1 can for sale(they are the same as 86'), check out my thread in the for sale section. $20 USD shipped to the U.S., but to ship to canada is more expensive so I'll say 25.

The ECU controls the boost, don't worry about it.
