Alright, this has got me interested. I am now thinking of doing this turbo upgrade rather than a stock t2 from my mitsu. My question is, where can I find a .63 housing somewhat cheap? Would this turbo with a .48 housing be much better than the stock t2?

Thanks

But, would remachining the .42 compressor housing be better than using the .60 housing?

Can anybody answer this question?

From looking at my .48 and .63 housings, its not a matter of machining. The .63 hsg is so much bigger than the .48 hsg so theres nothing to machine.

I mean, On the compressor side. Which would be better? The .60 a/r or the stock .42 a/r machined out for the 60 trim wheel?

I don't think that would make any difference as the housing is still really small. If your going for lag issues and no top end, do the .48 machining but for more top end, do the .60.

I have made this turbo using a .60 ford compressor side and center section installed in to a .48 t2 dodge turbine housing, fits pretty good you'll need to make a adaptor for the turbo on the compressor outlet hopefully that wouldn't be problem with flow.I'm going make a mistu turbo waste can work with this turbo. well try hopefully this help people I posted pictures

I have one of those on my car. Runs good. A bit more top end with a .60 a/r compressor housing and wheel. Now if I can only figure out how to use the .63 exhaust housing I gots.

Here is a pic of the one I'm currently running on the Jeep. This one is off of an 85' XR4Ti. It works great!

The box looks like its on the inlet of the turbo, I think it was for the carburated applications, unless its custom. A friend of mine has a 2.3 turbo carb setup that has something similar.

Thanks,
The "box" is actually nothing more than a way to plumb my exhaust pipe up to the turbo. Since I turbocharged a n/a 2.5 motor, the exhaust manifold had no provisions for mounting the turbo to it, plus there really wasn't any room on that side of the engine compartment either. So I had a custom pipe bent up that runs from my exhaust manifold, down under the oil pan, and back up the other side of the motor and into the "box". The "turbo unit" mounts on the bracket that would normally hold my a/c compressor. That positioned the turbo high enough in the engine compartment to allow a nice gravity feed for the oil return line back to the pan. I was concerned that with the turbo that distance from the exhaust manifold, there may be some "lag" in getting it spooled up, but it works great. Throttle responce to boost is almost linear. (Below are a couple of pics of the bracket I mounted the turbo on... before and after mounting)

I checked Ebay last night, and for anyone wanting to upgrade to one of these Garrett turbos (.60 A/R - .48) from your Mitsu, there are several out there for sale. They're going for anywhere between $10 - $150!
