My buddy's rebuilt TurboCoupe sounded like a police siren when he drove it. Worried me a bit. I've heard lots of turbos spool, but never one that loud or high pitched. But a year later the car still runs fine, so. . .

One of my good friends bought a 96 GSX. The turbo didn't whistle, it whined, it sounded allmost like a supercharger LOL. It turns out that one of the fins were bent majorly from injesting an object...

It sounds like the compressor fins are rubbing against the aluminum housing.. Time for a new turbo

My GLH Turbo whistles more in cooler weather; not so much in warmer weather. Car doesn't blow smoke. It's been doing that for about 7 years and not had a problem.

I think it's cool!

My buddies GSX didnt have any problems either, shaft play was minimal, seals were good, but it just sounded like ass... so upon futher investication, we found that one of the fins were bent majorly. It must have made some turbulance noise or something cause other than that the car boosted fine!!!

Is the intake on and the same asbefore? i know K&N filters make it louder and iknow right now (well awhile ago before i blew trans up which i havent fixed yet) i had no intake at all (stright from turbo) and i know its bad but i wanted to see what it was like lol. But it is so loud it can hurt the ears sometimes. And u can hear it far away sometimes before u can hear the exhaust. But its fine when i put theairbox back on.
