Who is making these? I've seen pictures of 2-1/4" swingvalves cut apart and welded back together with 3 inch steel tubing.

How much do they cost? Can you still use a stock downpipe and that tapered seal ring? Are they durable in everyday driver use? I know that welding iron is tricky, and I imagine welding steel tubing to cast iron also has problems.

I have one exactly as you described..
Mike Radowski is the guy who makes em, *very* nice work, really clean welds. his screen name is clickhere33 (I think). I don't really wanna say what he charged me but, I can say it was a very fair price and that he is a great guy to deal with.. I posted some pics of what I have/what your talking about.

I'm no welding expert, but those look like TIG welds to me. At least on the outlet end.

What is this V-band clamp? Does it allow the exhaust pipe to move and flex like the stock tapered seal ring does? Or does it clamp it solid?

clamps it solid, you need to incorporate your own flex section, mike made one for me as well, top notch work and was great to deal with, i'd definately recommend him
