I've done it myself also, and xrattiracer is right, you just need to take your time and be very clean. I suggest picking up some stuff called PB blaster and start soaking all your bolts on the turbine side a couple days before you plan your tear-down, that usually gets 95% of them loose, and the rest usually come out with a little heat from a handheld propane (I use MAPP gas, burns hotter) torch. And just be clean when you put everything back together. There are a couple schools of thought on the balancing, some say its essential, other say that if the turbo was balance as individual pieces originally from the factory there is no need to have it rebalanced. Personally I have mine balanced, its pretty inexpensive and is good insurance, especially if you plan to run a higher amount of boost, and will be spinning the turbo at a higher rpm then the stock setting. But there are plenty of people out there that have done without the balancing and had good results. One thing I have had suggested when to me is to get an old crock pot from goodwill or something and fill it with tranny fluid, set it to low or med, and put your turbo parts in it. Supposedly it gets things super clean and is not abbrasive like blasting, sounds like its worth a try anyways.
