Moparzrule, that avitar pic is awsome, that car is now in my home town. I think a ported head will also help down the road. With more traction, you may be able to get the 13 you want now. It seems like your running out of breath at the upper rpms judging by your et vs your mph. I personally feel that a 50 trim hybrid may be too much for a stock headed 8v car. Maybe the 46 would be a little better. We just don't have the deep breathing that the 16v cars have. But we have violent torque down low. The reason I suggested maybe a head is this, a 2.5 almost makes too much torque, so haveing a better flowing head and turbo should move the power band up a little higher where you may not be spinning the tires as much.

Am I running out of breath? My 14.1 run I cut a 2.02 60' time, and got through the 1/8 at 9.063@76.96 and ran a 14.107@97.74. Again, the cal is rich, so I'm not making optimal power with this setup. I gained 21 MPH at the last 1/8 mile which I think is pretty good.

Your turbo is choking you, lol! I ran basically the same mph, 60ft times, etc in my mini with everything maxed out. I could feel my 2.5 literally fall flat on its face above 4000 rpm. With the new turbo and .63 ar ex hsg, thing thing pulls like a freight train to redline, I love it.
If you play with your timing, fuel you should be able to run 13's with what you have, many do using the stock turbo. Also, what is your max boost your getting from your turbo now, curious. I had to lock my wastegate with a vacuum pump to get max boost,
What are your goals with your car, you have never really told us?

that run was on 18 psi of boost and I'm probably looking to run 18 psi of boost daily, maybe turn it up a notch at the track maybe up to 20 or 22. As for max boost out of the turbo. I know at one point my manual boost controller was not set and it jumped to like 22 or 24 (couldn't really tell as my MP boost guage only reads to 20). So I don't really know what max boost I could get out of the turbo 25+ I'm guessing. Goals.... well probably would like to run real low 13's or a 12.99 eventually. So to get this fat beast there I would probably need about 300 -325 whp I'm guessing. I do notice that the car does not want to rev over around 5200 rpms. So I guess there is some choking occuring. I do notice that. I wonder how much that has to do with the turbo or the stock head. I would be leaning towards the turbo (exhaust side) yes?

Turbo for sure, I left basically everything the same and using a smallish intercooler and like I stated, it now pulls HARD to redline, before, revving it was pointless. I hit the redline so fast its amazing and I am now running balance shafts, wasn't before. BTW, had a .48ar before, now has .63,

I'm shooting for 12's as well in my daytona on drag radials. Are you going with slicks? My daytona is fully loaded and heavy, it's the pacifica model daytona and it has all power options. I'm not doing anything to loose weight.
Here's my complete setup for you-
87' T2 block
T1 cast crank
T2 rods
Mahle pistons, STD bore
G head, bowls worked, mildly ported, backcut valves, 4 angle valve job
stock oil pump
88' roller cam
1 piece intake, port-matched
Ported exhaust manifold
super 70 turbo....63 turbine stage 1. 3'' Exhaust no cat, bullet muffler
dual stock core IC
A520 trans with Chrome Moly Transplate
T2/T3 clutch
Custom cal from TU, 3 bar +40's....22 PSI/pump gas
As you can see I have a mild G head, which will make a decent bit more power than a stock swirl head plus I can run more boost on pump gas safely. I may end up going with a TAFT stage 2 cam in the future for some more HP.
Your .48 turbine is definitely the cork. A .63 should be a 30 HP bolt on. Since you have a 2.5 it wouldn't hurt to go with the stage 2 wheel in the turbine, but it costs $100 more so if it's not in the budget it's not going to be any kind of huge difference, maybe 10-15 HP. The main part is going with the .63 housing.

Sounds like you guys are right. With the 2.5 the "cork" is the turbine housing. My daytona is a fat pig. I think it weighs about 2950 without driver(I have a page with the weights over each tire too as I had it weighed) don't know where I put it though. Fully loaded t-top 87 daytona all options and working A/C.
Motor, 90 common block, 2.5 t1 crank, no balance shafts, t2 rods (small end extra oiling hole) resized for larger wrist pins for 0.20 forged venolias. Head is swirl casting (stock except some port match to the ported exhaust manifold). Stock 87 two piece intake with 46mm throttle body, cummins intercooler, stock 89 t2 turbo, 2.5 downpipe, 3"high flow cat, 3"exhaust out the 3" Dynomax ultraflow. Stock airbox K&N. walbro 255 fuel pump, +40 injectors, 3bar map, FWDperf stage 5 computer. I think that's the most of it.
I think the only things that would need upgrading are a larger better flowing turbo and a larger, better flowing head. I am running 26X8.5X15 M/T slicks (just fit, but rub a bit when making wide turns). So it's time to save up for a turbo.

Yeah, the head is important but more boost can make up for a poor flowing head, lol!

Yes sir!!!
It might be in your best interest to go with a G head, more flow stock for stock and you can run about 4-5 more PSI on a given octane.
