Really need some help on making a turbo decision here guys. I am buying a GT series turbo with an employee discount(so cost is not a problem) thru a local vender. The problem is that the turbo I am waiting for, GT30R, is on nationwide backorder and garrett is not telling anyone when they will ship. Now normaly I would just wait, but on the 5th of February Paul from turbosunleashed is comming to town, and I am on the list for a dyno tuned calibration...but I don't have, and most likely will not have my turbo by then. So I have a few choices...I can dyno with my stock ported manifold and T2 garrett, not dyno at all, or buy a GT3071R (instead of a gt30r) since they are in stock. How much power am I looking at loosing by going with the 71...is it even possible to anwser that withought puting it on the dyno?

Just in case it matters-Setup
2.5 with weiscos
Menegon big valve g-head and port matched intake
powerstroke intercooler
3 inch exhaust
TU header..setup for gt turbo only...or ported stocker with t2 garrett
stock '89 roller cam
a555

Hopefully someone has some anwsers for me.
thanks,
Geoff

Well, I think you kinda answered your own question. Why not call up Chris at TU and ask for his opinion? He deals with and sells the exact turbo you are looking at and seems to know this stuff inside and out....just a suggestion...

Soooo when can we "make a deal" , Chris ?

Just kidding, you've always been cool to me. I gotta save up for a 3" SV kit though for the van. I want to put the Garrett I have on it(not that the Mitsu I got from you is bad or anything, but this thing is screaming for a bigger turbo!) before spending a lot more money on a larger turbo. Before I do that I need a nicer IC though...arrrgghhh the list never ends. Too bad some of the hard parts for the 'Baron simply won't fit the van...

We can't buy GT turbos for what Geoff is getting them for through Garrett and he can't afford to pay our prices. We have one last option of us providing him with one from TU stock and he will give us his once it comes in from Garrett.

Yea, I don't think there is anything more I can ask of Chris. He has been to my house every day for the past 3 days testing fitting my custom header .
