What are you running? 2.2 or 2.5? A modified 2.5 with big 3" exhaust should help spool the S70 turbo. A 2.2 will be more laggy. I am also thinking of getting a S70 for my car. I guess it also depends on the specs of the S70 turbo. Depending on the stage of turbine wheel it could be more or less laggy than another S70 turbo. I'm sure someone with more turbo knowledge than me can step in and help clear this up.

There are probably a few different variations of the super 70. One I have seen has the compressor wheel from a turbo buick. A T3/T4 may be a better street turbo. If not, then you would want to probably use a stage 1 wheel for spool up response. Your gonna want the .63 exhaust housing though.

I like mine, it's from TU and it uses the buick GN T3 wheel. There are other places that use a T04B S-trim wheel thats not as good. For the turbine side, use the .63 either way but go stage 1 for a 2.2 and stage 2 for a 2.5L engine.

That is exactly the turbo I am using. Got it from Turbo engineering in Co. It works really well. I also have the .63 housing. Laggy, maybe but then if it is I'm not driving it right.

I ran one for a season on my 2.2 Omni with the 48 turbine housing. No noticeable lag increase over stock T-2. Power came on hard and fast. I ran 27 psi which sent it to an early grave but it did it's job running consistent 12.9-13.1 passes.

Agreed when I had the .48 on mine it spooled maybe 200 RPM slower than the stock T2 but the boost seemed to hit harder.

I have a Super 70 on mine with a .63 and it is laggy comes on around 3500K but I ran 170 WHP and 225 FT/TQ at 13.5 psi. Not bad for only 13.5 psi I'm just waiting to get a new Wastegate since my spring broke on the Dyno then it's 18-20 psi

Cool. Does your S70 have a .63 stage 1 turbine?

I personally think that the stage ll wheel may be too much for a mostly street driven car with an 8v head unless it was worked over pretty good. A little lag for alot of mid and upper hp would be worth the trade though. Alot less wheel spin. These motors make almost too much torque for a front wheel driver.

I have a S70 from turbochargers.com in my Omni ... this was the same place who was doing them for Ed Peters. It is only a .48 but has a 11 degree clip on the exhaust wheel and ported 3" swingvalve and downpipe. On a 2.5 I have absolutely no complaints with lag time at all, boost comes on plenty early -- the car his it's torque peak (320 ft/lbs) about 3100 rpm and was over 200hp at the same time. The stock headed 2.5 seems to run out of breath around 5500rpm, so I felt this was a pretty decent powerband.

A stage 2 on a 2.5L would have about the same lag as the stage 1 on a 2.2.
