Im sixteen and just got my insurance card for the daytona i just got. Its a 1990 dodge daytona es in great condition. Ive done much research in pretty much all aspects of the car. I assumed that the 1990 es was a t1 surely this was a mistake by insurance company. Or is it possible i have a t2 under the hood.

I mean dont they get their info on the car from the VIN. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Your insurance company will not have a clue if it is a T1 or a T2.
All they will know is that it has either a 2.2 or a 2.5

Heres an easy way to tell if it's a T1 or T2...pop the hood, look for lots of piping.

In 90 the only intercooled cars were the VNT cars...

If you a agent, take the car to them and pop the hood and ask them if they see a incooled engine there, show them a picture of a TII engine setup and then tell them to correct your billing and listing on the car.

then again your 16 and it might not matter too much :-)

Lol ya the insurance is outrageous. Its so much all i could afford was the basic lyability for the other guy, if hes not insured or if its a hit and run im screwed.

Oh well thanks for your help fellas. This daytona already has enough ummph for a 16 year old to handle i guess haha. Its like one of those two cylinder ninja bikes. Barely tap the throttle and you are thrown back into your seat.

1989 was the last year the Turbo II was used in the Daytona. If it is a 1990 with a turbo it will be the Turbo I or the Turbo IV. Look under the hood for a small block that looks like a small radiator. It will be bolted to the radiator next to the overflow. If you have one then you have a Turbo IV if not you have a Turbo I.

I am looking for gray interior trim for a J-body (1987-1989) LeBaron coupe hardtop. If you have anything please PM me before throwing it out. I am also selling tan trim if you're interested.

From my experiance a TI or TII doesn't matter once they see it listed as a "TURBO" the rates go through the roof. The insurance for my 87 Shelby Z TII and 88 Shelby Z TI were exactly the same until I registered the 87 as a low milage second car.

My 90 base model 2.5L TBI daytona was $2 more a month than my T2 89 Daytona Shelby T-top car. Go figure eh? They know the T2 and VNT cars have the *premium* engine by the 8th letter in the vin code.
