Hi, im new here and have just started fooling around with my turbo caravan. ive been reading on some sites about a grainger valve to control boost. ive tried some local industrial suppliers and they dont have a clue about what im talking about. is there a generic name for these valves, and what kind of supplier would carry them. i havent been able to locate a grainger outlet here in canada by using the search on their web site. as of now im using a small orifice at the wastegate solenoid to get the pressure up to about 10psi but id like a bit more and this valve arrangement looks like the cats meow.

ANother van guy!!! Welcome. You can get them off of Ebay, but I reccomend posting in the parts wnted section... seems people on this site regularly have them, and if you were to buy on from the industrial supplier you have to do some modifications to it... whereas if you bought one from someone on this board it will be ready to rock!

FWIW I put a hole in my #1 piston when I ran 16 intercooled PSI in my van. Dont go more than 13-14 intercooled without fuel modifications..

Where ya located?

Jeff

Go to a plumbing store and ask for a ball-check valve or an aquarium valve. They'll understand.

thanks for the info. i was planning on running about 14psi, just below the computer cut off point. i was also thinking of running turbo II injectors just for a little more fuel as added insurance, what are yout thoughts on that? BTW im located in western canada, calgary alberta to be exact.

I believe your injectors are the same as TII ones. Your van should be a 2.5 TI, they should be the same and your computer controls the pulse width of the injector adding the amount of fuel needed for the larger displacement. If you wanted more fuel for added security, you'd be better getting an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and maybe some +20 injectors, or adding an extra injector on a Hobbs switch which is probably cheaper.

Where from Alberta are you?
Check out this link: Edmonton Alberta T.D.ers
Next meet is on the 15th.

You can order the gringer valves from MCMaster Car. They come out to about $10 a peace then. See Gus Mahon's site RIP for good gringer info.
