its all a dance - increase the boost slightly, drive for a while, and then check plugs. Do this often. Plugs will tell you everything. I run 10psi, but check often, and on hot weeks I turn it down to 7-8 psi just to be safe (detonation is an expensive problem). I plan to put an I/C onto my setup in the future, just need the fundage to put into the I/C hoses.

That is such a loaded gun question. The variables are staggering. Is the engine tired, fuel pump weak, injectors dirty etc but Phreakish has the right idea, take it slow and easy. Make sure you have an aftermarket boost guage, an air fuel guage and if possible, an EGT also.

Agreed - also, the stock system allows for up to 9 psi for short times, so 9-10 isn't a stretch for the fuel system and computer, unless you have a worn out fuel pump, worn motor, bad turbo, etc... I wouldnt' suggest going anywhere over 9.5-10 psi without the aid of a proper boost gauge, mixture gauge, and EGT gauge. Without those readings, you're shooting in the dark and at WOT the computer runs open loop. Most of all, be careful unless you like rebuilding and swapping motors

My bone stock 86 T1 pings with premium in hot weather at 11psi. It's fine now, though.
