I have never attempted a turbo engine rebuild and would like someone to push me into the right direction. I have an 87 Daytona Pacifica TI which blew up do to previous owners laziness and my lack of knowlege or the trubo motor. He cut the Oil line and replaced it with a regular piece of fuel hose. Of course the hot oil disentegrated the hose.

I have an 88 TI engine that i have stripped down to the bare block. It is ready to go to the machine shop for work. I would like to get the most power I can out of this block. Stroked, bored and whatever else to make power and be strong enough to be bottle fed once in awhile.

Before it blew I was having a problem with the digital dash not holding the correct speed (unless i was actually goin 115mph sittin at an idle)

Any help with this project would be greatly appreciated by me and the car.

Thanks in advance
Steven

If you do have machine work done to the block, don't let them install any aftermarket cast pistons, no matter what kind of garbage they try to tell you. For around $100 you can get a set of nice cast Mahle pistons, or if you have some money to spend, get some forged slugs from one of our vendors. Also, since it's an 87-88 T1 engine, you'll also want to buy a set of floating pin Heavy Duty T2 rods from an 87-89 T2 engine, VNT engine, T3 engine, or a 2.5L T1 engine (all use the same rod). With good pistons and rods, you should be in good shape for some serious boost and maybe a bit of nitrous. Personally, I've run 20-24psi of boost on the stock cast Mahle pistons, but you have to be really careful at that level. As far as the digital dash goes, It's probably time to swap in an analog dash if you ask me, as they're frequently prone to failure. If you're not getting a speed distance sensor code from the computer, it's probably the dash's fault. I hope this helps.
