Mitsu turbo? Upgrade to something different?

I've got a '90 Daytona C/S. It's stock(for the moment) with the Mitsu turbo. What will it take to go to something better. Equipment, cost, etc.

I'm new to the turbo game but everything I've read(yes I did a search! ) says the Mitsu isn't good for bigger boost/performance. I'm gonna install an intercooler soon but want to go 'almost' stupid fast. The car is gonna get stripped of weight as much as possible.

Thanks in advance!

few questions to better help us help you pick a turbo..

2.2 or 2.5?
what head will you use?
what intake/exhaust manifolds?
what intercooler? (pressure drop reasons)

How much $$ you got to throw in? How long do you want to keep the setup before upgrading?..

It's a 2.5 T1, automatic everything is stock. The intercooler will be a Volvo I got off Ebay.

If I read it correctly on the Dodge Garage I can swap a Garrett from a TII? If so what should I watch out for?

I've already replaced the the head gasket/bolts with Mopar pieces. I'm on a tight budget but no rush.

Yeah, the turbo will bolt rigth on, just have to modify the oil and coolant lines but nows the perfect time to upgrade to new units using our vendors.
Does the Volvo intercooler have plastic end caps? if so, they can't take high boost so if your keeping it low, say 15 or less, your ok.
