Okay, my car is an 86 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z 5 spd. It's the T1 w/ the garret Turbo. I want a direct replacement turbo. This seems to be it. However I noticed that it doesn't have the wastegate can. Can I switch my can from my current turbo over without too much trouble? Anything else need to be switched over? Is this a good deal? Thanks.

Also, do I need new bolts to hold the turbo to the ex. manifold? Any type of thread sealer as well? Thanks.

Too much for a used T1 IMO. I remember back when I was looking someone had good used ones for $125 if I remember correctly. I believe he was in WA too. Have you tried the PNW-SDAC mailing list?
Yeah you could use your wg can on that. I wouldn't buy it though, a 30 day warranty isn't very long anyways. If the seals are bad they might not show it in that time.

that's the EXACT same turbo you already have.. What's wrong with yours? When you decide to upgrade to TII, your current turbo can be adapted..

Yep, my turbo just started smoking and I want to replace it when I decide to put my new ported log intake on and intercool my car. I'll check out the Pnw-Mailing list, I'm a "subscriber" so I'll check it out.

Well if your planning to migrate the turbo up to your TII setup in the future, $300 would be a great deal for a rebuilt turbo.. Peace of mind knowing that your turbo is good to go for a long time to come is worth alot.. (Especially when you drive to cali to have it dyno'd.. err.. hehehe)

lol, well, a guy emailed me w/ a stock T1 Garret Turbo for sale. $50 obo, that he recieved for free. He emailed me a video of the shaft play and I'd say the shaft will move barely 1-2mm's. It also turns really easy. I think I'm going to buy it. If someone will host the video, I'll send it to them, but it's 2.5 mb.

We have a dyno here in Spokane too! And yes it's just a TI garret, but it'll make more boost than the log can handle efficiently, even intercooled. You won't max out the Garret until TII status is reached. Even then it'll probably get you to 20psi. Besides, a rebuilt Garret in good condition is still worth darn close to what you paid to get it rebuilt if you do upgrade.

Darn dialup... $50 is good. It's hard to measure the play unless there's a dial indicator involved, but if it's within spec grab it. It's still a bit of a gamble because you can't measure seals, but it's worth $50.
