turbo power rating

can somebody tell what is a SAFE hp rating for a stock turbo on a 88 daytona z

Do you mean stock? Stock should be 142-150hp, depending on how well it was built.

Now if you mean how much HP you can make on stock internalls it should be around 250hp. Throw a performance calibration in, 2 1/2" or 3" exhaust, exhaust cut out, and a cool air intake...thats just a start and if it's a 5spd(Im assuming it is) you should already be in the high 14's or reaaaaal low 15's. Of course you start switching turbos, porting out the manifolds, doing a bunch of head work, adding more fuel and turning up the boost.

i was refering to the max hp the stock turbocharger could hold upto before dying

I am gonna guess around 250 for the turbo based on the closest compressor maps i can find for it.
