Can anyone tell me what the max boost level on a t1 engine is? and are those"fishtank valves" alright to use? i cant get a hold on a grainger for a while, but if the fish tank valve is good then awesome

its almost the same thing as a grainger valve except it doesnt have a spring or ball inside to open up when the desired pressure is achieved, instead it is just like one but has an adjustable opening so its pretty much a bleed valve

you can get a grainger for $14 shipped from mcmaster carr. For a typically stock T1 log engine, I'd not run more than 10psi sustained when the weather is good, when its hot, I'd drop it a bit...

I run 10 now, and its nice. cutout is 11 on some log T1's, so it can get annoying when you hit it in 4th and 5th but not 1st, 2nd, or 3rd (like me) But I think my WG can is crappy too...

I wouldn't go with a 'fish tank valve' since you wont get reliable and repeatable boost control with it, and you'll run the risk of leaning out and causing problems.

iv had no problem with the fishtank valve, it does spike alittle but not all that much. It all depends on how u set it up. the way i set it up before (which is usualy whats posted on websites) would spike alot more then it does now. I can make a vac diagram if u want. also i duno bout logs but I run 14PSI on my t1 blowthrough.

This is a question that is almost impossible to answer. What engine, what mods, stock, modified, exhaust, intercooled etc.

The only way to tell is to get an EGT guage, air/fuel guage and turn up the boost until your maxed out on the guages. Reading your plugs also and if possible, using a scanner to watch for knock!

My 85 T1 handles 12 non-intercooled but I'm not taking it any higher than that. I also have 2.5" exhaust, and I use champion RN9YC plugs, timing at 12*, MP computer and 88 TBI roller cam.
a/f gauge shows 9 lights at WOT and no knock on the scanner...once I discovered the vac line on the FPR had popped off. I chased that problem around forever!
