Today, I removed my exhaust system from the downpipe back...it's now just an open downpipe.

As soon as I removed the stock exhaust and went for a cruise, the thing started smoking at lights and decel.
Will a stock full exhaust hide a smokey turbo? I never noticed smoke or anything before with the stock exhaust....
It's a '90 Daytona C/S Turbo 1, stock turbo

Well....the point being that absolutely NOTHING was changed before and after the exhaust was removed......and no smoke before I removed the exhaust..... I had driven the car not 10 minutes before I removed the exhaust and had no problems.

The PCV is just a breather filter and hose attached to the barb on the back of the VC. No excess pressure from the oil filler.

There is a possibility that there may have been some very light smoke with the stock exhaust, I just never noticed it before.
Usually, even a little burnt oil will give a smell..

you'd do yourself a favor to put a vac source to the pcv with a proper pcv valve - otherwise you risk a lot. Under boost the engine will see even higher crankcase pressures, aerating the oil, causing undo stress on seals (including the headgasket) and can lead to some nasty failures.

I had a bad PCV 'tee' and made a new one with some 5/8" silicone hose with a hole cut in it to hold the stock PCV valve. Works like a champ.

There is a hose that tees off the oil return line on the '90+ T1's.....since I have removed the stock airbox and added a cone filter, there is no where for this hose that would normally vent back to the turbo inlet.....would this open hose be causing the oil not to drain properly back to the pan?
Maybe I should plug it off?
