How much of a difference lies in between the 2? Is it a noticeable difference, or should I leave the mitsu on as I plan to not go over 14psi until my engine is rebuilt? The engine will not be rebuilt for a long while yet, and I'm wondering if I should swap the turbochargers to add to my summer budget-speeding fun.

BTW, the car is currently intercooled with a large NPR, and the Garrett is a super60. All this on an '89 Shadow ES

the mitsu hinders flow in the exhaust, is prone to overboosting with the 2.5, and is overall a worse choice - I'd stick with the garrett, I believe it offers better efficiency and less exhaust restriction, especially if you're running a 2.5.

so I should swap over ot the garrett? Are there only slight gains to be noticed?, or do I have to be in the higher psi range to start noticing?

Garrett wins, flows more air per pound, no boost creep but the mitsu has lesser lag, choice is yours!

Yes, I would go with the Garrett as your running a big intercooler, I just noticed you said Super60, then theres no issue, put it on!

I'm able to run the Super60 on stock fuel pump/injectors if I plan on only running 14psi, right?

And I KNOW i'll more than benefit from an ECU recal.

You should be able too, but I would start low and turn up the boost slowly, watching your egt's and air/fuel guage.

i had a mini that had a mitsu @12 psi and then i put a 89 t2 garret on it @12 psi with no other changes besides the turbo, the boost came on stronger and would break the tires loose at 10-15mph.
the t2 lasted 24 hrs before the oil seals went in it and i switched back to a mitsu

so for having a mitsu, then a t2 for 24 hrs and back to a mitsu - i could definetly notice a difference and missed having the extra torque.
the rest of the setup was stock, so even with no mods a bigger turbo is a noticeable improvement.

oh yeah moof, DO NOT run 14psi on a stock fuel system without a intercooler, i blew 2 motors set at 12 degree timing that way and it wasnt pretty, luckily they were junkyard motors. even with an intercooler dont do it unless you at least have a air fuel guage.
start of at 12 psi and 12 degree timing, then work them up slowly to be safe, nothing sucks worse than blowing a motor due to 1 more psi than you should of.

Oh man.... your going to be going from a mitsu to a S60.... I upgraded from a mitsu to a Garret and I tell you.... for every PSI that garret makes it takes the mitsu 2PSI to make the same kind of power.... I have a hard time deciding if upgrading to the 2.5in exhaust (my first mod) was a better or mod or going from the mitsu to the Garret....

2nd trip to the 1/8 strip with the van
Something still isn't right with mine but you can see what I picked up with just the turbo. I was probably running a pound or two less boost this time aswell. I had to mess with my grainger spring when I did the swap and its been more spike prone since then.
