I actually don't use anything to start. If something blows off, I'd stick a zip tie on, but if you have decent hoses, they should nessle over that barb and stay there.

yeah, they should, but zip ties are extra security to make sure you don't have to pull over in front of your friends after racing that mustang. zip ties work well enough.

I use tie wire. Just cut a piece of wire about 3" long and bend it into a u around your finger. Now put it around the hose where you normally would a clamp or zip tie and cross the ends. Then simply take a pair of pliers and twist a few times until it binds down tight on the hose. Cut off the excess and you're done.
I've got every vac. connection on my car done like this and have had 0 problems with them blowing apart even at 27 psi. Just be careful not to bind the wire down so tight that it cuts the hose.
The only disadvantage I've found to doing it this way is that ends of the wire are sharp after you cut them off and it's pretty easy to get scratched up if you have to work around them.
HTH,
Tony

I found out the other day that zip ties are pretty much required for my setup above 20 PSI.

I use hose clamps on the 3/8'' main vacuum lines and zip ties for the smaller lines. This setup has been tested at 25psi

Ditto. As soon as I started pushing 19-20 psi in my Lancer, I was blowing vacuum lines underhood and under the dash. I've bought some small zip ties from the hardware store and haven't blown one off since.

I use zip ties.

Im waiting for someone to say they use duct-tape. "It fixes all of life's little problems."
