My new turbo is on the way, and I am considering fabby a larger inlet. Would this create any problems with a alrger inlet on a T1? It will funnle down to the opening on the turbo.

Shouldnt create any problems, but I dont see how it would benefit...you're sucking the air in, meaning it's being forced, it's not like a N/A car where every little bit of flow matters. Thats why our cars benefit more on the exhaust side than the induction side.

After installing my cummins i/c I had the T1 Mitsu Turbo to Airbox hose just on the turbo with no filter until I could get my current setup in. The car ran 99MPH through the traps at 12psi with this. I then put on a 3" mandrel bent system with the biggest Xtreme cone filter K&N makes in the 3" size. Before I could build a box around it it was just sitting there in the engine bay. At the track like this it now ran 100MPH at the same boost level and hotter outside air temps. Getting the air to the turbo as easily as possible made the difference I believe. The 2.5" hose the stock setup runs is the restriction. 3" is good for stock size inlets and 4" for a T3/T4 or GT turbo is probably the way to go.

I just got my new T1 in. Converting it to T2 status. Debating on getting the inlet from TU, or making one.

Just buy a used compressor cover from a TII turbo in the swap meet section for around $15.
