well the 86 shelby charger is in good shape and running gr8 with only 90k miles on it, tomorrow i start the conversion to t2 using a 2 piece intake , +40 injectors, custom cal, 255 fuel pump, greddy boost controler , all my gauges, spearco fmic, 18 psi boost, 2.5 block with forged pistons, 2.5 inch swingvavle, 3inch exhaust no cat, dynomax turbo 3in 3out muffler, the 87 daytona shelby z tranny and cable shifted conversion think the tranny is 555 or 525 not sure yet till i look at the tag, and super 60 turbo, greddy type rs bov, performance clutch
thats the setup thats gonna be started tomorrow, with that setup untill i dyno it, anyone have an idea what hp will be like?
and also will i be able to beat turbo talons and eclipses?

give me a list of mods on the dsms you are talking about and ill tell you if you can beat them. dsms make more power than us, we are lighter than them. lots of them have awd, with street tires you are going to have a hard time with any awd ones from a dead stop

No way! Even a stock or mildly modded t2 probably couldn't.
My friends Talon, AWD, stock turbo and manifold, large intercooler, 3inch exhaust, few other small goodies, bone stock engine, runs low 12's all day long.

Sounds like a fairly accurate description of Ken Adler's GLHS a couple years ago. It ran, what, mid/high 12s?
I've found with the DSMs around here it comes down to both drivers. Especially how well they can launch. I know with my R/T I win or lose races with them on my launch; just depends on how much ground I have to make up. Less than 3 cars lengths and I'm usually catch up and pass. It was the same story with my GLHS. Damn near every time I would take them from a roll.

Ken can correct me of course if I'm mistaken, but he ran the 12's (at least his PB mid 12) with a 50 trim hybrid, not a stock turbo.
I'm sorry but the potential in DSM's is astonishing, the aftermarket is great, the cars are expendable, and you can do it for cheap if you please. Low 12's is quite easily achievable in a 1G awd car with a good couple of bolt ons and some hefty boost.
I just got back from the DSM Shoot Out at Norwalk this past weekend and watched an Evo 8 with an entirely stock head save for cams (stock valves, casting, springs etc) run on his first pass 10.48 @ 134.
John Shepherd ran 8.59 @ 173 in his full interior pro 4 cylinder car spinning all of first gear badly. It was quite a sight to see and hear.

their heads are miles and miles better than ours.. we have one of the worst flowing heads of all time and they have one of the best. the stock motors are good to ~400hp, traction isnt an issue.. a 1g dsm is just easy as hell to make fast
but
most of them by this point are beat to shit and falling apart (like our cars ) so 2 totally stock 1g's can be seconds apart. exhaust and 15 psi on a stock 1g will get them into the 13's, it takes more than adding a frontmount to get them into the low 12s but not much more.. an safc and a fuel pump maybe.
2g's are harder to make fast for whatever reason.. they weigh more, they come stock with a garrett t25 that is way too small for what the engine/head combo can do, and there are a few other differences in the way the motor is setup that make for a lot more work than a 1g. the stock 14b on a 1g is good through the 12's so thats a huge advantage right from the start... not that they are hard to change. the turbo sits right in front on dsms.. sooo easy to pull, i swapped 2 at once between a buddy of mines car and my gsx, exhaust manifold, turbo and o2 sensor housing.. took about 3 hours total. so much easier to work on than my l body nightmare
