I searched but was unable to find any info on it. Which 2.2 CB's got the forged crank? All turbo CB's, or just TIV and TIII? How can you tell a cast crank apart from a forged unit beside weight? thanks.

to tell them apart the forging lines on a forged crank are wider and flater than a cast one

the line that runs down the crank...

lay them on the flywheel flange end down and tap one of the counter weights.

forged: resonates like a tuning fork
cast: dead thud.

TII, TIII, TIV

also cast cranks don't have as much machining done on them as a forged crank does. hence the prominant casting lines left on the crank as opposed to the smooth edges on a forged.

as you can see here the counterweights are smooth. this is a CB forged crank from an 89 TII.

and forged cranks are ALOT heavier than cast.

Rare birds but you guys left one out. 89-90 SOHC TC by Maserati automatics. I have grabbed a couple of forged cranks from them.

TIII and VNT's come with the shafts if you are talking about 2.2's Of course if you mean 2.5's all of them.

Can you add the sprocket to the end of a TII crank? Do you just need to tap the bolt holes for the sprocket?

the crank i posted has the holes allready drilled and tapped for the balance shaft sprocket.

and yes, that's all you have to do. if i want to slap on some balance shafts all i gotta do is press on the sprocket, bolt it down with the 3 bolts and i'm done.

but you also have to make sure that you have the extra bulkhead holes in the block to bolt on the balance shaft assembly.

Well I am building a TIII block and I want to keep my balance shafts. My crank might be bent. Are you saying I can use any TII, TIII, or TIV crank if I have my sprocket?
