I am gearing up to get my bottom end rebuilt, I just have to decide which rings and bearings to go with.

For rings should I be fine as long as I run a moly ring?

whats the best bearing company to go with? (I found total seal main and rod bearings for a decent price, but I am wondering about quality, etc)

these would be for a TII non common block

thanks

I know total seal makes some decent piston rings, don't know about their bearings though. Personally I'd try and go with clevite, they were the oem supplier when big blocks and hemi's were rolling off the assembely line back in the day. Total's bearings are probably good, just be SURE you don't get rod bearings with too thick of a babbit layer. I know the bearings my 440 runs have got a .001" or thinner layer of babbit where race bearings have a thicker layer around .006". That stuff is too soft for a street car engine, thich babbit is very soft so it works well but doesn't hold up for long. They also make bearings with a lead indium layer instead of babbit, those are supposed to be good too but I don't know anyone personally who uses them. Sorry, I know a lot more about big block bearings than 2.2 bearings, but just a heads up to look out for that.

+1 on Clevite. I wouldnt use anything else on you rods and mains but them. If you replace the I-shaft bearings I would use Dura-Bond bearings for that. As for rings I have used both Hastings and Sealed Power with no complaints on either of them.

Sealed power rings and Clevite 77 bearings. Hastings rings are also considered good. I'll be using Sealed Power and Clevite on my rebuild.
