I figured I would start a new thread for this, because it is confusing to look at in the "4 BOLT MAINS" thread.

Found it in an `88 turbo car. I guess Chrysler recast blocks with the newer technology, but machined them for bolt in installations in the older cars?

Tom

Well I always wondered how my block had a '92 date on it considering it was a junk T1 as far as I knew. But when I took my car apart today to get the block o-ringed I checked the #s on it and they appear to be the EXACT numbers as Egodriver71's block #s except his is a '93 and mines '92. The #s are as follows 4501851 then there is a 12 about 2in above that to the right then the year stamp says 28 1 92 or the 1 is a slash, im not sure. It has the straight rear oil pan rail like a CB but still has a fuel pump block off plate on it. very odd

It is a service replacement block. When Chryco changed the tooling over to the CB design, they still had to supply replacement blocks for the older ones. That was their answer.

I know there are a few sanctioned body racers that would love to get their hands on these blocks because they pass the visual inspection as being the original old style block, but deliver the added strength of the CB.

You have a CB that looks like a non-CB. It *may* have provisions for balance shafts, but if not, then that means the webbing hasn't been drilled and tapped for them and there's no oil supply hole. Other than that there's nothing really special about it.

Oh, and I think all the early stuff fits on it, such as the oil seal retainers, ect, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I've looked at the one my buddy has...

The point is i thought I had a weak T1 block, But I dont. It dosent have provisions for balance shafts. I looked when I took it apart when I 1st bought it like 2yrs ago. I always wondered why I made 340hp and never had any problems with a T1 block that everyone said I would have. Its because its not "just" a T1 as it turns out

Is it cross-drilled? This would be a good upgrade for any T2 non CB motor, I would love to find one.
