Ok...after an intervention of sorts I believe I found the clattering noise my motor was making.
I had actually forgot I had my crank cut
I laid new rings in the block new bearings (std) on the rods bolted her up . All proud fired her up and rattle , rattle
After checking valve train and all top end I pull the pan and pull the rod bearings. I see some scuffing on both sides ??? Doh!!!! I just remembered about 5 years ago when I first got the car I had the crank cut I believe 10-10
Just wanna dbl check on my bearings, I have a plastigage reading with std bearings in of .002"
Can anybody tell me the bearing I would need to put in? do I just go another .010 on the bearing??

connecting rod oil bearing clearance0.0008-0.0031 (0.019-0.079mm) If the crank has been cut 10 under you are correct 10 under bearings are you sure you are reading .002 and not .02"

i think u need to re-check your clearances if u had the crank cut and used std. bearings then it *should* be more than .002, as 2fast said u sure its not .02

You can double check yourself by making up the big end with the bearings installed and torqued to spec ... off the journal. Mic it inside and then mic the journal. ... subtraction will yield your clearance.
