Wait a second are we arguing over whether head bolts are reuseable???? I have the mopar head studs with a mopar cross drilled hg and I still blew it.....Nothing is invincible. OH and NO!!!! head bolts are not reusable. And why in gods name would you have to take the hood off of your car to take the head off. Are you using a broom handle to hold your hood up??????

I thought this thread really was going to deliver. I've got my head off and soon will need a gasket and was eyeballing the cometic vs MP gaskets.

Can we get back on topic??? I have ARP head studs too haha

Sorry i did not put that in on the first post but i did not know you were going to try to challange everything i said. I will now on be more specific. And as far as you and your backyard repair shop or whatever you want to call it, i could care less. Unlike you i actually work in a machine shop not a Partner of a Masonry company. As far as Dodge Sucks that is not me he is my shop manager he hates dodges, he has a porshe 2.5 turbo. The only reason he is on here is because i mentioned you at work and he was amused at your ignorance and felt the need to waste his time on you for some reason. But like he said you offer no real info, you are boring me and not worth my time.
Whatever, you both can't spell go back to school. Everyone else thought the same thing about the hood, wasn't just me. Oh, but since we don't all work at a machine shop we are ignorant retards thats right.
My brother was a machinest for 6 years, now he works at Cleveland Brothers on CAT diesel engines and he's the best mechanic they have. They send him all over the country for training, he just got back from Boston couple days ago and a few months ago he was out in New Jersey training. A company doesn't invest in a person like that unless he's really good. Anyway, I said that because he's the one that tought me how to build engines. So now everybody here has to work at a machine shop to be credible? I don't know what I'm talking about because I don't work at a maching shop? WTF

Iheartboost-If you blew your gasket you either had bad detonation or your head needed surfaced and/or block decked.
Mike_shepard- The mopar gasket is fine unless something is wrong with your engine. You can buy 4 mopar gaskets for the price of one cometic gasket. How many times is the cometic reusable? I don't know because I've never used one, I wouldn't think more than a few times but I could be wrong. Anybody know?

Your right. I have a cometic on my engine. Have run about 20 psi no problem. I would go with the cometic if you got the extra money. If you have a rough finish on your block or head I would get it refinished or use the MP gasket.

As far as I know they are designed to not go bad. I am sure they have the potential to last forever if you take care of it. Meaning you do not get dirt or debris between the layers, or bend them somehow. The black coating will wear off eventually, but a good gasket sealant applied should do the trick. These are my opinions, and are not to be taken as 100% facts.

Do you use a spray seal of some kind or just slap it back on?
