Yes, same side.
Like anonymous_user is saying, though, it is really important that you be sure to put the original cap back on the rod.
One way to do this is to get a strong magnifying glass and examine the wear patterns on the sides of the rods and caps -- the part that wears against either side of the crank pin. The wear pattern will be unique and the pattern will exactly line up when you have the correct rod and cap in the correct position. It will take you a bit of time to do this carefully.
If you are unsure of any of them then get them reconditioned. It is probably a good idea to get them reconditioned in the first place.
