Unhappy Does this look like a crack?

Does this look like a crack? Is this common? This motor only has 30K miles and everything else looked great, even had nice crosshatch. 89 2.5 cb.

It deffinatly raises the question. I would try to get it magnafluxed cause it could be a forge bur, have checked to be sure.

have it magnafluxed, it may be ok but yes it looks like a crack to me.

I only noticed it in the pic after I got to work and will have to look at it closer tomorrow. I thought about getting it magnafluxed but I can get a rebuilt motor from a reputable shop for $400.

If that is one flat wall I would say it's a crack. But if that area is a little stepped inside getting bigger heading up to the bolt hole, it could just be a shadow from the camera flash. I would take a closer look and see.
