I'm reading the instructions and it says to tork the nuts to 65ft# due to the aluminum head. Has anyone installed the arp headstuds? Thanks, Chris

I'm doing the same thing right now, I'm just using the normal tightning order and taking the final torque setting to 65 and not doing the 1/4 turn at the end.

You dont have to do the 1/4 turn at the end on the ARP's, only with the stock head bolts because they are a stretch thread, hence the one use then throw away.

Are your head studs too long or too short? I've been looking at getting some but have heard of this problem. I was just wondering if maybe ARP had fixed this problem.

I put a couple in and set the head on and everything looked pretty good, just the right lenght, but when I get them all in with head installed I'll let everyone know.

ARP sudgests 70ft lbs using moly lube or 85 ft bs using 30 weight motor oil. I usually torque mine to 85 to 90 ft lbs using motor oil. I've been using ARP studs for at least 6 years and work fine at these torque settings.

If you re-read the instructions it says 70ft-lbs for the iron heads but 65 for the aluminum heads due to the expansion/contraction of the aluminum. I'm gonna stick with the 65 the instructions say to go with, I'll let you guys know if I have any problems at this torque.

Your right! I got to read instructions more carfully!
All the same whats 5 lbs between friends
Whats important too is the larger difference when using molly lube as compared to oil which is what I normally use.
You should be good with 65 using lube or about 80 to 85 with oil.

I have heard that the ARP studs make it difficult to remove the head due to the intake hitting the firewall when lifting......is this true? And are the ARP studs improper in length or has this been fixed?

I didn't have any trouble with length or with getting the head off and on in my CSX.

The length of my stud was o.k. with her
really it was o.k. on mine too but never hurts to check
don't forget the studs just go in hand tight DON'T preload them
you should be able to unscrew the studs if you have to pull the head or even put a short/shallow groove on the top and use a screwdriver to pull the studs out to get the head off

While on the subject of head bolts doesnt that anoying SNAP when your tightening the bolts or nuts throw off your torque reading/value?Ive tried using a ton of the graphite based lube from ARP but they still snap!?!Obviuosly it has to do with friction.Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I'm using ARP studs too. Gotta rip my engine apart for the 5th time. How many times can the studs be reused???
