ok so in my 87 tona, its a TII 2.2 engine, and i want to build up a strong bottom end...I know everyone is goign to say to get a common block. I have a 2.5 5spd non turbo daytona in my yard, its my parts car... would that block be a common block? (its an 89, so it is, right?) and would it work if i would put 2.2 internals in it, forged pistons/rods and then mate it up to my head that i have now? I know that i would need to run the oil lines for the turbo, but what else would be needed if i did this? and the holes are allready there right? theyre just plugged?

thanks, jake

The 87-88 T2 block is strong enough for 400whp no prob. There's some Freak around here that dyno'd around 450/450 on one!

^^+1, but it is advisable to run the forged crank to do this....

T2's have a forged crank. No, the holes aren't there.

Sure use the 89 common block. You'll just have to drill out the oil return tube hole + cross drill the cylinder surface and it will be the same as a turbo block. The coolant return hole is already there, just plugged with a bolt. You can run the 2.5 crank if you like just get stronger rods and pistons, or you can get a 2.2 crank, rods and pistons if you want to go 2.2
