Okay they are all assembled now and ready to go except one thing, the rings. Which of the two top rings goes in which groove. I have the standard Hastings ring set. There is one compression ring that has a dot on the top, now I know this dot points up but is it also the first ring? The other compression ring has nothing on it, so I am guessing that this is the second ring?

Need some info before I can go any further , thanks.

If it is a Moly ring set the face(where the ring contacts the cylinder wall) of the top ring will be shiney.

The face of the second ring will be black.

Okay , so the shiny ring is the top one, closest to the head, the second one is the black ring with the little dot on top? Ok thanks.

The top ring may have a bevel on the inside edge indicating which way it should be installed.Take a look.

I checked my ring clearances and they appear to be about .016 although I could put a .017 strip in there too but it might have rubbed and stretched it out.

Will these be alright?

Actually the ring ends middle rings were .12 - .13 and the top ones were .13 - .14. That sounds a little bit more like it.
